Sheffield-based visual artist and graphic designer Andy Welland is known for his bright colours, playful collages and colliding shapes.
Inspired by repurposed off-cuts, thoughts, sound and movement, he describes his abstract compositions as "a celebration of what it is to be human as we navigate and make sense of this chaotic world together. Inspired by the building and community, these paintings are visual expressions of our ever-changing world."
He recently collaborated on the packaging for Edinburgh-based ethical chocolatier COCO and their new Nut Collection, and says he was struck by the company's innovative mindset:" I know from experience not many companies would go for such a bold design to use on their packaging, because the work is not visually literal," he notes.
The feeling is mutual, and COCO's director Calum Haggerty was delighted with the results of the collab. "The colours and patterns in Andy's work are a fantastic fit for COCO, and I believe they work particularly well on our packaging," he says.
