Online photography community Photocrowd.com has published a selection of incredible pictures from its 'Dusk to Dawn' contest in collaboration with Digital Camera magazine, including the overall winner, along with second and third prize images.
First place went to Marek Kosiba for his incredible panoramic photograph of Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Speaking of the work, Ben Brain – editor of Digital Camera magazine – said: "When you want to reveal the stupendous scale of the night sky, sometimes a single frame just isn’t enough. Here, 22 of them have been expertly combined in a 360-degree panorama that really does make you feel small. It’s a technically accomplished image, with a well-judged blend of exposures and individual frames, but also shows great vision on the part of the photographer; the eye is drawn naturally across the image from the orange glow in the distance to the nearest observatory. It would make a fantastic large-scale print."
Other winning contenders included photographer Scott Sim for his stunning nighttime cityscape of Tokyo, and the view of Tokyo Tower, and Kris Williams's beautiful shot of the night sky over Wales. Discover more on Photocrowd.com.
