Born to Paint is the debut London solo show by hugely successful Belgian street artist Joachim, curated by Rosh Boroumand, co-founder of GraffitiStreet.
Young, prolific and highly talented, Joachim's distinctive graffiti pop-style is impossible to ignore. He is famous for his childlike spontaneity, as well as being willing to experiment with a wide range of styles. Complicated compositions and a playful use of colours can be seen throughout his body of work.
Joachim enjoys creating both street art and pieces in his own studio. He considers himself a full-time, utterly dedicated artist. With multiple street art murals to his name, sell-out prints and shows across Europe, Joachim has earned his reputation within the urban art scene.
Taking its title from his overwhelming passion to create, Born to Paint showcases Joachim's latest works on canvas and a number of unique installations, including a pink graffiti Mini Cooper, covered in Joachim's trademark skulls and colourful dotted umbrellas and raindrops showering down from the tall ceiling, mirroring the details in Joachim's canvases.
"Every second of the day I'm creating art, even if I'm not doing it... I dream about it! You could even say that other commitments, such as buying food or paying bills, things that other people find normal, slows me down... if it was up to me I would never eat again... art is what I was born to do!"
Born to Paint will be open daily until Saturday 11 March 2018 at Unit 11 Dray Walk, The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, Shoreditch, London E1 6QL.
