It's hard to believe that Hello Kitty celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. Created in 1974 to inspire happiness, the brand has grown to embody the values of Japanese cultures through showing kindness, respect and the true meaning of friendship.
Over the years, she has captured the imagination of people around the world and today appears on a broad range of products and experiences that appeal to her legions of fans and is the subject of countless brand collaborations and artistic explorations.
Now over 100 artists from all over the world are exploring the world of Hello Kitty in a new group show at Downtown Los Angeles’ Corey Helford Gallery in collaboration with Sanrio, the parent company of the brand. They have re-interpreted the iconic image of Hello Kitty and her friends in their own aesthetic through a wide variety of mediums including painting, sculpture and animation.
The Hello Kitty 45th Anniversary Group Show opens on Saturday 29 June at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. Discover more at www.coreyhelfordgallery.com.
