Winning the Grand Prize in the 2016 One Life International Photography competition, fine art photographer Debbie O’Donnell’s Botanical Dance series captures Australia’s stunning environment through the movement of Western Australian flora.

After a detour through the corporate world, in 2015 Debbie embraced her passion for photography, creating a beautiful selection of organic-inspired work. Featuring a creative process that explores the landscapes of flora and botanicals, she examined wildflowers and allowed her imagination to excel.

Celebrating a diverse range of muted and bold floral colours, the collection conveys a sense of glee and ambiguity.

Debbie expressed to us the motives behind her accredited Botanical Dance series: “I loved watching the wildflowers gracefully bend and reach toward each other; imagining them whispering the secrets of people who passed them by. Their beauty, delicious scent and hypnotic powers, enticed me into their magical garden.

“My father was going through chemotherapy at the time, so while signifying joy and harmony, the series also reflects the uncertainty and impermanence of life. My escape into the sanctuary of the botanical world moved me to reflect upon the dance of my own life.”

Simply beautiful. Discover more here.
