The Edges of These Isles is a three year collaboration between photographer Simon Bray and artist Thomas Musgrove, exploring the British landscape and depicting seven beautiful locations through their respective mediums.
The pair travelled to the Lake District, Lindisfarne, Brecon Beacons, Gower Peninsula, Glen Coe, Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland and Peak District – creating one piece for each location.
Simon explains: "In exploring the same locations at the same time, we were questioning the notion of collaboration, asking how and what would we would be inspired to create from our shared experiences. We wanted to pose the question: how would the instant reactions of the photographer vary to the process and response of the artist?"
You can see the full project – featuring all the final pieces, working images and sketches – at The Whitworth in Manchester this September. A self-published 120-page book will soon be available to pre-order, along with a short film about the work. Details can be found at www.theedgesoftheseisles.com.
