Caroline Dowsett rallies Manchester artists once again in a raffle for the city's food bank

For the second year running, Manchester-based artist and maker Caroline Dowsett is raising money for the city's food bank through a creative raffle that features the work of more than 30 local creatives.

Kicking off this Sunday at 12pm, tickets for the raffle cost £2 and you can win a range of prizes from screenprints, books and handmade ceramics to gift cards and original artworks. A sample of those involved include Aliyah Hussain, Dotto Studio, DRME, MikeSian, Jiveprints, Design By Day, Craig Oldham, Barney Ibbotson, Robert Lomas, and UVA, but you can find the entire list over on Caroline's JustGiving page.

"In these uncertain times, unfortunately, charities and food banks have seen a huge decline in donations, leaving those most in need more vulnerable," says Caroline. "A crew of Manchester-based artists has kindly donated their works to be won as part of the raffle."

Last year, Caroline and all artists involved managed to raise £9,000 to help those hardest hit by the pandemic, which smashed the original target. She adds: "We were so blown away by the response in 2020 that we knew we had to run the raffle again. Times are especially hard for many and it's always humbling how many people are keen to help support those in crisis."

Renowned for her abstract, colourful paintings full of shapes and movement surrounded by blank lines and little messages, Caroline is also offering one of her own artworks in the creative raffle, which will run from now until 6 June 2021.

Manchester Central Foodbank gave people in crisis 4,014 three-day emergency food supplies last year. If you'd like to offer your support, you can also donate via the charity's JustGiving page.
