Cool Japan is celebrated in a new show on Japanese contemporary art

Tetsuji Shirakawa is a highlight. Born in 1949, he graduated from Kyoto City University of the Arts with a major in design and began work as a product designer at a Japanese firm. He later became an illustrator, which he continues to be today. Another artist to feature is Shroki, an award-winning creative who began her craft at the age of six and has since become a professional calligrapher.

These artists, along with many others, will help us take a close and fascinating look at "Cool Japan" and its influence on the world. As the show states: "Appropriating and reinterpreting traditional mediums or themes, the artworks presented are an example of the beauty and sensibility you can find in modern Japanese art today. Ranging from fantasy depictions and delicate innocent figures to seductive representations and intense images. We are taking into a colourful and playful cool Japan."
