In the UK alone, we use 81 disposable cups every second. That's a phenomenal 7 million a day. Now G . F Smith has launched Extract, a pioneering paper with a dynamic combination of chemistry and artistry that takes disposable paper cups destined for landfill and transforms them into beautiful paper.
Apparently, the paper supplier can make up to 16 sheets of 380gsm paper from 81 cups, that's five cups per 380gsm sheet at 720 x 1,020mm. Extract joins G . F Smith's The Collection range and is available in 10 shades "drawn directly from nature". "Extract is a paper we had to make, but hope to discontinue," says John Haslam, Joint Managing Director at G . F Smith.
To accompany the launch of Extract, Show Space, the central home of G . F Smith, will present an installation From Cup, to Paper. On view from 9 November on Eastcastle Street in Fitzrovia. Discover more at extractpapers.co.uk.
