Paper artist Sam Pierpoint collaborates with PDCO to craft wine labels for Ten Miles East

How do you choose the right Pinot Noir when faced with a huge selection of bottles in your local supermarket? A wine label must surely be the most challenging project for any experienced designer – knowing that its look and feel can ultimately determine if the bottle in question will end up in the shopping trolley.

For illustrator and paper artist Sam Pierpoint, it was a matter of turning to the tactile nature of paper to craft a series of inviting wine bottle labels for Ten Miles East – a winery and cellar bar based in Adelaide, Australia.

Working with Stroud-based design studio PDCO who handled the brand identity, print consultancy and website design, Sam's illustrations were created to reflect the individual character and origin of each of the winery's range.

The labels proved so popular that one of Sam's designs scooped an award at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show. To discover more, visit www.sampierpoint.com.
