Since we introduced you to Marcus Marritt's series of football stadium illustrations last year, his ongoing project has seriously kicked off (forgive the pun).
The Glasgow illustrator's minimalist style has certainly proved a hit amongst the football community and has even led to a commission from Aston Villa to produce a #DistinctlyVilla campaign to document the unique history of the football club.
"This series is my chance to explore the shapes and construct of football stadiums while celebrating the uniqueness of each and what makes them special to each club," says Marcus. "I am very conscious of including stadia and clubs from all across the globe, so I can learn myself and hopefully open the eyes of others. I love to work with a tight colour palette when given the choice, these prints also celebrate the visual identity of each club by focusing solely on the clubs colours."
Does he have any particular favourites? Well, La Bombonera scores highly. "What a beautifully unique stadia, plus I took a corner stand viewpoint and so the composition is more varied with this."
You can grab a copy of one of his 'Home' prints via his online shop, where his bestseller to date has been Stade Geoffroy, Guichard – Home of St Etienne. He adds: "I am very thankful to those in Italy, France and the UK who have ordered this print."
